My counselling journey
I am so pleased to have you scroll by!
I was born in South Africa and moved to Calgary in 2017, where my passion for psychology really took off. For the past 3 and a half years, after completing my masters degree in Counselling Psychology, I’ve practiced in both private and public, community-facing settings. Within my professional roles throughout my career, I have worked with adults, teens, children, couples, and families facing various mental health concerns. I value being a reflective and growth-oriented therapist and I strive to approach my work with curiosity, humility, and care.
My education and professional experience have played an important role in shaping my practice, but some of my most meaningful learning has come from the clients I have served over the years. I am so thankful and honored for those who have shared their lived experiences with me and taught me first-hand what it means to be resilient.
I love to be a part of helping my clients build strength to navigate and adapt to change, especially when life comes at us with so many surprises!
In my personal life, I consider myself to be a jack or jill of all trades and engulf myself in hobbies that serve as my main outlet for creative expression. This includes working on my art and music, particularly painting, sketching, songwriting, singing and playing guitar. Over the past 4 years, I have found a love for running with my mission to finish a half-marathon each year.
My views and approach
Relationships
I hold a strong belief that we do not live in isolation. Our relationships—with partners, family members, friends, colleagues, and even with ourselves—shape how we experience the world.
I view relationship challenges not as signs of failure, but as opportunities for greater understanding, growth, and connection. In my work, I strive to help clients explore thedynamics that impact their relationships, build awareness of longstanding patterns, and cultivate healthier, more authentic ways of relating to themselves and those around them. The patterns we develop in connection with others often influence our sense of belonging, self-worth, communication, and emotional wellbeing.
Ways I can support you
My goal is to create a warm environment and a safe space to engage in self-discovery, healing and growth. I believe that each person is the expert in their own life and that we are constantly learning new ways to heal and continue growing.
Areas of concerns I work with include: anxiety, depression, trauma, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), stress, MVA, burnout, self-esteem challenges, parenting challenges, and relational conflict and repair.
I use an eclectic approach in counselling that integrates techniques from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Narrative Therapy, Bowen's Theory, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). I have also completed training in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD.
Through a values-based lens, I gently invite you into the therapeutic space for self- exploration while we take the steps to lead you towards your best and most authentic self.
I look forward to meeting you!
