My counselling journey

My journey toward counselling began at the University of Calgary, where I studied Sociology and developed a deep interest in how culture and social structures shape people’s lived experiences. In 2020, when my mother was diagnosed with cancer, my world shifted. That experience prompted deep reflection on life’s meaning and my own emotional landscape, ultimately inspiring my pursuit of counselling psychology.

When my sister later faced her own cancer journey, I found myself drawing on that growing emotional awareness to support her with presence and compassion. These experiences strengthened my belief in human resilience and deepened my commitment to helping others navigate their own challenges with curiosity and care.

As a counsellor, I strive to create a warm, non-judgmental space where clients feel seen, heard, and supported in their journey toward healing and self-discovery.

Outside of work, I love to travel and experience new cultures, and I try to find joy in the simple things like sunshine, walks with my dogs, and a good cup of coffee.

My views and approach

I believe that we are active agents in our own lives and we hold the power to create a meaningful life. Rooted in an existential perspective, my work invites reflection on what gives life purpose and how we can create meaning through both joyful and difficult moments.

At the heart of my approach is a deep trust in people’s inherent goodness and capacity for growth. I see counselling as a collaborative process, a space where your lived experience and my counselling knowledge come together to explore, understand, and move toward what feels most authentic for you.

I also believe that healing happens through connection, not only between people, but within ourselves. The mind and body are deeply intertwined, and our emotions often show up physically through tension, restlessness, or fatigue. I enjoy using EMDR for the way it allows clients to connect with these bodily experiences, helping to bring awareness and insight that can open new pathways for understanding and release. I take a holistic view of wellness, recognizing that movement, nourishment, rest, and community all contribute to mental health and overall wellbeing.
